Start at the UNESCO world heritage sites in Évora, ride then along historical villages as Arraiolos, Evoramonte, Estremoz, Vila Viçosa, Monsaraz, Mina de São Domingos, Mértola, Alcoutim to finish at Castro Marim.  Visit the former Palace of the Portuguese Kings and the rural lifestyle of the local homesteads;

Day By Day

Day 1: Welcome to Portugal and Évora, UNESCO classified as world heritage site
Your guides will greet you in Lisbon Airport and drive you to Évora, just one hour car distance away. If you prefer you can meet us in Évora in an historical lodging.
6 p.m. - Welcome drink, briefing and bike fit of your bike if rented through us

Day 2: From Roman Times to the Medieval Era
88kms /55mi - 980m of cimbing /3215ft - Level 2

From Évora you ride north up toward Arraiolos, the village of rugs and the circular castle. Time to recover down along the traditional Alentejo landscape of olive and oak trees. Passing the village of Vimieiro is time to climb again to Evoramonte to conquer the magnificent castle. From the top you will be able to see Estremoz and the next castle you will have to conquer. The last part of this stage will be mostly flat passing by the welknown wine village of Borba to finish in the enchanting village of Vila Viçosa (lush village) known as the “Princess of Alentejo”, a truly open-air musuem.

Day 3: From the Marble capital to the wine capital
108,5kms /68mi - 1500m / 4900ft of climbing - Level 3
Along the quiet roads and marble quarries you will pass by the biggest fortified city in Europe, listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, Elvas.  Riding then south and down to Guadiana river you will pass by Juromenha castle, Alandroal to finish climbing to Monsaraz. The final will be hard but the view over the top fully deserves the effort.

Day 4: Rest Day - Visit to a wine producer farm "Herdade" with a wine taste or a Boat tour in Alqueva lake

Day 5: The largest artificial lake of Europe and the abandoned mining village
120kms /75mi - 1300m /4265ft of climbing - level 2

The first part of this day ride will be crossing the Alqueva, the biggest artificial lake of Europe. Passing the very traditional town of Moura you will  enter in a different landscape of valleys with olive and oak trees along narrow backroads towards Serpa. Already in the Guadiana Nature Park will arrive at Mina de São Domingos, an old mining village.

Day 6: From Alentejo to the Algarve
104kms /65mi - 1400m /4600ft of climbing - level 3

Leaving the old mining village you will ride towards Mértola, a beautifull small village that in ancient times was a very important comercial point from the south of the Iberian Pensinsule. The way to Algarve is not easy but the valleys are rich of nature and the landscape changes as you enter in Algarve. Speed up as you approach Alcoutim in a fast downhill section. The ride along the Guadiana river will just passionate you. Already with the sea on the horizon you will first pass by Castro Marim before you arrive at Praia Verde. On the top of one hill stands a castle, on the other a star-shaped fort. Between them the houses of Castro Marim, with their white walls with brightly-painted borders..
