Day 1: Welcome to Portugal and to the Algarve (approx 30 km/19 miles, 400 m/1312 ft elevation gain)
As soon as you arrive at Faro airport, a Bikesul staff member will welcome you and drive you to the historical village of Estói, where you will be staying for the first night.
The “Pousada de Faro” is a rococo palace built in 1840 with a terraced garden, featuring original elements that will make you feel like royalty.
There, we’ll start our adventure in this picturesque village that preserves many vestiges of the roman and moorish occupancy. If you arrive with time, after set up your bike and equipment, go for a short test ride to the village of São Brás de Alportel. Then, cycle back to the hotel to rest and enjoy the hotel’s spa and pool.

Day 2: Tavira and Monte Gordo (75 km/47 mi, 950 m/3116 ft elevation gain)
Are you ready for the first “serious” cycling day? Today’s ride is a constant up and down through beautiful valleys until you get to the marvelous and historical city of Tavira. Take some time to relax by the Gilão river and take some pictures in the roman bridge located in the city center.
Then, ride up inland where you will enjoy the panoramic view over the coast and Ria Formosa.
The end of today’s ride is in Monte Gordo, situated on one of the finest beaches of the Algarve. During the summer Monte Gordo has a buzzing atmosphere!

Day 3: Guadiana River / Alcoutim (83 km/52 mi, 1388 m/4553 ft elevation gain)
After an easy start passing by the medieval village of Castro Marim, with a fort that was used to protect the border between Portugal and Spain you will then head north, to climb to Azinhal. When reaching the top with a fantastic panoramic view, you’ll see how the marvelous Guadiana divides Portugal and Spain.
Then a fast descent takes you to ride alongside the Guadiana River, throughout amazing tarmac roads with barely no traffic!
Easily roll along the river to the traditional village of Alcoutim, which was a smuggling port between Portugal and Spain for many years.
Take the time to visit the castle and if possible, take the small boat to visit Sanlúcar, on the spanish side.

Day 4: From the river to inland areas (95 km/59 mi, 1500 m/4921 ft elevation gain)
On this day you will be able to ride in the quiet and peaceful roads of the Algarve interior. Passing through remote and low populated villages, enjoy the scent of the trees along the road and the amazing views over green hills and valleys.
When arriving in Alte, and after checking in, explore this small but enchanted village by going to the beautiful fountain of “Fonte Grande”, a natural water pool that is also a picnic area.

Day 5: From Alte to Caldas de Monchique (95 km/59 mi, 1500 m/4921 ft elevation gain)
Leaving this incredible village behind, the journey continues west, towards Fóia.
Rolling along the EN124 you will pass by Silves, the first capital of the Algarve! A beautiful city with lots of history and an outstanding castle!
After that, the most challenging part of this tour will come when we start ascending to Monchique and Fóia, the highest peak of the Algarve, over 900m of altitude. There, you can contemplate the amazing 360º view over the western Algarve.
This day will end at Caldas de Monchique, a thermal site on the slopes of Serra de Monchique.

Day 6 - Aljezur and Sagres (90 km/55 mi, 950 m/3116 ft elevation gain)
The tour continues up and down the mountain through enthusiastic roads with an amazing view over Monchique’s mountain range. After that, comes the village of Aljezur, famous for growing sweet potatoes.
Rolling down the Vicentin coast and the natural reserve, the next destination will be Cape Saint Vincent, the most southwestern point of Europe. There you will be able to visit the lighthouse and the small fort located over a cliff. Just 7km ahead, comes Sagres, an ancient fisherman's village and the final destination of this tour.
After the check-in, take the opportunity to visit the village, the fortress and the fishing harbor.

Day 7: Returning home
After a relaxing and tasty breakfast overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, it’s time to pack and say goodbye.
