Italian cyclist Filippo Ganna (INEOS) won the opening prologue of the Tour of Germany in Weimar. The Portuguese Rúben Guerreiro (EF Education-Easy Post) was in the 67th position, 17 seconds from the winner. Guerreiro is the only Portuguese registered.
Ganna, two-time world time trial champion, completed the 2,600 meters in Weimar in 2.56 minutes, two seconds faster than the Dutch Bauke Mollema (Trek-Segafredo), who finished second, and three seconds faster than the German Nils Politt (BORA- hansgrohe), in third.
