Stephen Williams won the first stage of the Tour of Switzerland

British cyclist Stephen Williams (Bahrain-Victorious) won the first stage of the Tour of Switzerland this Sunday and is now leader of the race. In second place was the German Maximilian Schachmann (Bora-hansgrohe) and in third place the Danish Andreas Korn (Lotto Soudal).
Stephen Williams completed the 177.6 kilometers of the first stage, which started and ended in Küsnacht, with a time of 4:16.51 hours, leading a group of 15 cyclists who arrived with the same time as the winner. Many of them are favorites to win.
Nélson Oliveira (Movistar) was in 50th position, 1.52 minutes from the winner, while Rui Costa (UAE Emirates), who has won this race three times, was 82nd, at 6.45.
The second stage will link Küsnacht to Aesch, over 198 kilometres.
