João Almeida won the 16th stage of the Giro d'Italia

João Almeida, 24 years old, won the 16th stage of the Giro de Italia this Tuesday, managing to reach second place overall in the race. In first place is Geraint Thomas.

Almeida overcame Thomas at the end of the 203 kilometers between Sabbio Chiese and Monte Bondone, with the two crossing the finish line after 5:53.27 hours. Slovenian Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) was third, 25 seconds behind.
