João Almeida and Rui Costa finish in the peloton of the first stage of the Volta à Germany

The Portuguese João Almeida (Deceuninck-QuickStep) and Rui Costa (United Arab Emirates) managed to finish yesterday the first of four stages of the Tour to Germany on bicycle in the peloton, won by the German Pascal Ackermann (Bora-hansgrohe).
Ackermann prevailed at the end of the 191.4 kilometers stage, between Stralsund and Schwerin, against compatriot Phil Bauhaus and the Austrian Marco Haller, both from Bahrain-Victorious, second and third placed, respectively, in 4: 07.01 hours.
The victory in the first stage ensured the lead for Ackermann, who, thanks to the bonuses received, has a four-second advantage over the Bauhaus and six over Haller.
João Almeida, ranked 59th, and Rui Costa, ranked 127th, following ten seconds behind the first ranked German, in 62nd and 123rd positions, respectively.
Today the peloton will face a second stage, with 180.6 kilometers, between Sangerhausen and Ilmenau.
