The portuguese cyclist named Iúri Leitão (Tavfer-Meansindot-Mortágua) won yesterday's second stage of the Volta ao Alentejo and reached the long-awaited overall lead in the 38th edition of the race.
At the end of the 195.5 km connection between Almodôvar and Sines, Leitão overtook Spaniards Mikel Aristi (Euskaltel-Euskadi) and David González (Caja Rural), respectively second and third in the finish, with the same 5:11.18 hours as the winner.
Today the third stage will link Alcácer do Sal to Mora, at a distance of 173.1 kilometers.
