Geraint Thomas wins the fifth stage and approaches the leadership of the Dauphine Criteria

British cyclist Geraint Thomas (INEOS) this Thursday won the fifth stage of the Dauphiné Criterion, in France, and approached the leadership, which is still held by Lukas Postlberger (Bora-hansgrohe).
Italian Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain-Victorious) was inches away from taking his second victory in this edition of the Dauphiné, but ended up taking third place, with the same time as Thomas, with Spaniard Alex Aranburu (Astana) being third.
Overall, Postlberger maintains the lead, a second ahead of Alexey Lutsenko (Astana).
Ivo Oliveira (UAE Emirates), the only Portuguese in the competition, withdrew after a fall about 30 kilometers from the end.
Today cyclists enter the Alps, with the connection between Loriol-sur-Drome and Le Sappey-en-Chartreuse (167.2 kilometres).
