Cyclist Fabio Jakobsen (QuickStep-Alpha Vinyl) won today, Friday, the sprint, the third stage of the Volta ao Algarve, after having already won the first stage.
He completed the 211.4 kilometers between Almodôvar and Faro in 4: 54.51 hours and overtook the Belgian Tim Merlier (Alpecin Fenix), who took second place, and the French Bryan Coquard (Cofidis), who finished in third place.
The Venezuelan Leangel Linarez (Tavfer-Mortágua-Ovos Matinados) was the best of a Portuguese team, finishing in 10th place and Daniel Freitas (Rádio Popular-Paredes-Boavista) was in 13th, thus being the best Portuguese athlete in this third stage.
Tomorrow, Saturday, the fourth and penultimate stage will take place that will connect Vila Real de Santo António to Tavira in 32.2 kilometers.
