Ethan Hayter (INEOS) won today a second stage of the Volta ao Algarve, at the top of Fóia, taking the lead of the general, ahead of the Portuguese João Rodrigues (W52-FC Porto), in second. On the way to Fóia, Hayter, 22, completed 182.8 kilometers, from Sagres, in 4: 48.43 hours, and was the strongest of a quintet that isolated itself on the final climb, beating the goal João Rodrigues , and Spanish Jonathan Lastra (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA), third. On a day also marked by the withdrawal of Rui Costa (United Arab Emirates), after a fall, Amaro Antunes (W52-FC Porto), in seventh, and LuÃs Fernandes (Rádio Popular-Boavista), in ninth, were the other portugueses in the 'top 10 '.
Today, Friday, the third of five stages connects Faro to Tavira after 203.1 kilometers.
